NEW ALBUM: Lucky Daye “ALOUD!”

It is his first project under the label (following earlier albums Painted, Candydrip, and Algorithm). The title plays on the tension between “allowed” and “aloud,” reflecting a push for creative freedom, self-expression without limits, and living more openly. Daye has described realizing he had to “allow myself to live ALOUD!,” inspired in part by time spent in Brazil. He has framed the project as a more truthful, less pain-centered, and somewhat more playful era (“Lucky 2.0”). Sonically, it blends intimate contemporary R&B with electronic textures, smoky grooves, funk, and rock-soul influences (including production involvement from longtime collaborator D’Mile and others). Early coverage notes a more midtempo/subdued feel in places compared to the higher-energy Algorithm, while still featuring vibrant elements like 80s-style guitar, synths, and distinctive touches such as saxophone.
