Drake premiered a self-funded, roughly hour-long “not so short film” Wednesday night. Sorry I missed it live. I had to work, my friends. He called it “self funded surrealism” and “a story about making the absolute most of it all in one summer.”

It isn’t a traditional album, even though Genius and fans first guessed it might be his fourth 2026 project after Iceman, Maid of Honour, and Habibti. Instead, it blends lifestyle footage, new music snippets, videos from his recent albums, and cameos. The directors are Theo Skudra, Liam Macrae, Jake Schreier, Zong Li, and Glenn Michael.

The core idea, teased in a philosophical voiceover over neon-green speedboat footage, sets two lives against each other: one spent avoiding risk and withholding love, and one that actually goes after what it wants. Drake framed it as motivation “Nobody is coming to save you” , and pointed to things like making the call, taking the trip, dropping the song, seeing your parents, or spending the money.

It fits his usual 2026 playbook of cryptic, high-volume rollouts after the May triple-album drop that briefly put him at Nos. 1–3 on the Billboard 200.
