NEW ALBUM: Vince Staples “Cry Baby”

“Cry Baby” is the sixth studio album by Long Beach rapper Vince Staples. 10-track project (around 35–36 minutes) that marks a bold sonic pivot. Instead of the usual programmed beats, it leans into live instrumentation with scuzzy noise rock, post-punk, and funky/groovy energy—think urgent guitars, pounding bass, and a band-in-the-room feel. Thematically, it’s a fiery, politically charged critique of contemporary America: police brutality, gun violence, government absurdity, cultural exhaustion, and the contradictions of the “American Dream.” No guest features. Cry Baby, the new album by Vince Staples, is out now. Vinyl, Music & Merch: https://vincestaples.co Stream: https://i.vncstpls.com/crybaby. The cover is a striking, politically loaded cartoon illustration: a pink crying baby in an American flag diaper (with a safety pin), throwing up a peace sign/tears flying, set against a bold hot-pink/red background. “VINCE STAPLES” at the top, “CRY BABY” at the bottom. It perfectly captures the album’s satirical edge on America.
