Vince Staples dropped “Blackberry
Marmalade” yesterday. His first solo single and music video since 2024. It’s an aggressive, punk-influenced track with a heavy bassline and rock edge. The official music video (co-directed by Vince Staples and Bradley J. Calder) is intense and viewer discretion advised. It’s shot in a disturbing first-person-shooter style inspired by DOOM, where you follow an unseen mass shooter who attacks Vince, storms a diner (Frank’s Coffee Shop in Burbank, a famous film set), and ends in suicide — mirroring real-world patterns. The visuals tackle gun violence, desensitization through entertainment, anti-establishment rage, and systemic issues.
