Fetty Wap,Released Early From Prison

Fetty Wap (real name Willie Junior Maxwell II), the rapper best known for his 2014-2015 hit “Trap Queen”, has been released early from federal prison.

He was transferred on January 7, 2026, from Federal Correctional Institution Sandstone in Minnesota to community/home confinement under the supervision of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons’ Philadelphia office. This came after serving a little over three years of his six-year sentence (imposed in May 2023 after he pleaded guilty in 2022 to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances, including cocaine, as part of a New York-based drug trafficking scheme).

The early release was facilitated by the First Step Act (a 2018 bipartisan criminal justice reform law signed by President Trump), which expanded early-release programs, credits for good behavior/rehabilitation, and more equitable sentencing for certain drug offenses. Reports vary slightly on the exact time saved—some describe it as nearly a year early (compared to later adjusted projections), while others note he served just over half the term.

His projected full release from all confinement and supervision is November 8, 2026, followed by up to five years of post-release supervision as part of the original sentence.
