NEW ALBUM: Summer Walker “Finally Over It”

“Finally Over It” by Summer Walker’, marks the conclusion of her “Over It” trilogy, following Over It (2019) and Still Over It (2021), with themes centered on love, heartbreak, growth, and closure-often drawing from personal experiences like her 2023 split from ex-boyfriend Lil Meech. The album’s rollout included teasers starting in October 2024, such as an interactive title generator and a lead single announcement via voicemails, building anticipation for what Walker described as her most unapologetic project yet. Spanning 18 tracks (19 on physical editions), the album is divided into two thematic halves-“For Better” (focusing on healing and empowerment) and “For Worse” (exploring lingering pain and toxicity)—mirroring a wedding motif in the artwork and title. Production blends contemporary R&B with pop, acoustic, and string elements, emphasizing Walker’s signature vulnerable vocals and storytelling. 18 tracks total, with features that include R&B peers like Mariah the Scientist, Bryson Tiller, and Brent Faiyaz, alongside hip-hop heavyweights (21 Savage, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Monaleo) and pop crossovers (Doja Cat, Chris Brown).
