NEW MUSIC: A$AP ROCKY “TRUNKS” & “BOTH EYES CLOSED”

A$AP Rocky released “Trunks” and “Both Eyes Closed” as part of the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s film “Highest 2 Lowest”. Rocky also stars as Yung Felon alongside Denzel Washington and others. The film hit theaters on August 15, 2025.

Trunks”: A high-energy street anthem with a drum-heavy beat, steel drums, and woozy synths, showcasing Rocky’s signature boastful style and hypnotic, chant-like hooks. It’s described as a frenetic track with cavernous ad-libs, fitting the film’s neo-noir crime vibe, and serves as a demo track created by Rocky’s character within the movie’s narrative.
“Both Eyes Closed”: A moodier, introspective track with a mellow, drum-focused instrumental, distant strings, psych-rock guitar, and chopped-and-screwed backing vocals. It explores themes of loneliness and introspection, with reflective lyrics like “I don’t got no purpose, I’m just lonely on this road / I ain’t fuck with Satan ’cause I never sold my soul.”. Both tracks, produced with UK collaborator Kelvin Krash, add emotional and narrative depth to the film’s 19-track soundtrack.
